About the Role

Be part of something bigger. Drive the growth of the women’s game here in the North East and beyond.

At Newcastle United Women, performance is about more than outputs — it’s about building something that lasts. We’re looking for a values‑driven, forward‑thinking Head of Sport Science and Performance Services to lead and evolve our physical performance function and help shape the next phase of our journey.

This is a rare opportunity to define a world‑class, integrated performance science model in an ambitious elite environment, working with people who care deeply about collaboration, clarity and impact.

About The Role

This role sits at the heart of Newcastle United Women’s performance programme. You will provide strategic leadership and operational excellence across sport science, physical preparation and performance services, ensuring players are consistently ready to perform, not just available.
You’ll lead a multi‑disciplinary performance team, align physical performance to the game model, and translate insight into action — all while fostering an environment where people feel supported, challenged and empowered.

What You’ll Do

  • Lead and deliver the strategic vision for Physical Performance within Newcastle United Women
  • Build and embed an integrated physical performance framework covering training, monitoring, recovery and return‑to‑performance
  • Work collaboratively across the multi‑disciplinary team, including medical, nutrition, psychology, performance insights and coaching
  • Ensure physical preparation aligns to positional demands and the game model
  • Drive the effective use of data, turning complex information into clear, actionable insight
  • Integrate physical performance into Individual Development Plans (IDPs)
  • Line manage and develop sport science and physical performance practitioners
  • Support alignment between the Women’s First Team and Academy performance pathways
  • Champion innovation, research and continuous improvement

The team

You’ll be part of a friendly, supportive and dedicated team who will help you settle in and succeed. We value curiosity, teamwork and a positive approach

United As One.

We’re committed to equality, diversity and inclusion and believe in equal opportunities for all. We recognise that the diversity of our people is one of our greatest strengths. We work together to reflect the communities we serve and to maintain an inclusive environment in which everyone can be their authentic self and is enabled to achieve their full potential.

Safeguarding

We’re committed to being a place where everyone is safe, heard, valued and able to thrive so we place high value on the safeguarding and welfare of everyone we engage with.
